Canon EOS 2000D overview
The Canon EOS 2000D is a 24MP compact frame, APS-C format DSLR camera with a DIGIC4+ processor and a metal mount. It replaced the Canon EOS 1300D DSLR camera in March 2018. It is also known as the Canon Rebel T7.
The camera is built specifically with entry level photographers in mind and incorporates built in features such as a built-in-features guide, scene modes, creative filters and picture styles one come to expect from entry level cameras. The camera also comes out with a big mode wheel assisting beginner photographers which includes the additional shooting modes such as Programmed Automatic (P), Aperture priority (Av), shutter priority (Tv) and Manual (M) shooting modes which one would expect to see.
Being in the entry level region and designed with beginner photographers in mind the camera is very easy to operate and is a very good choice if you are looking for a DSLR camera on a very tight budget.
Canon EOS 2000D design and operation
The camera body of the Canon EOS 2000D is plastic and the lens mount is metal, non the less it feels very robust and ergonomic in one’s hands. The viewfinder is not very big. The body of the camera is not weatherproofed. Buttons on the camera are multifunction and functions are depicted in either white or blue symbols. The white symbols functions while shooting, and the blue symbols indicate functions during playback and when reviewing the images.
Canon EOS 2000D performance
The 24 MP CMOS sensor of the Canon EOS 2000D gives more dynamic range, less noise and a much sharper image than its predecessor the Canon EOS 1300D. The camera is definitely a valuable tool to any beginner or entry level photographer.
The 3” LCD screen equipped with 920000 dots is a fixed LCD screen. The LCD screen is not touch screen, nor does it tilt. An ISO range of Auto, ISO 100 – 6400 which is expandable to 12800 and a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000sec. With a maximum shooting speed of 3fps and 9 auto focus points the Canon EOS 2000D performance is what is to be expected in the entry level range of DSLR cameras.

The Canon EOS 2000D camera has the ability to take Full HD video (1920 x 1080) at 30fps, 25fps or 24fps.

The camera connects via USB 2.0 and also has Wi-Fi which uses NFC for easy sharing purposes by using the Canon Camera connect application.

- The only upgrade from its predecessor, the Canon EOS 1300D, is its megapixels and nothing else.

- This camera model should have incorporated more features and should have had a much better upgrade from its predecessor.
Conclusion
The only upgrade of the Canon EOS 2000D from its predecessor the Canon EOS 1300D which was launched in March 2016 is megapixels, and nothing else. The camera would make a suitable back-up camera should your primary camera fail.
If you are on a tight budget and can only afford the Canon EOS 2000D then do so, but there are many other makes and models of camera which were launched during the time when this camera was launched with much better specifications.
